ChatGPT — June 26, 2026

This release features the expansion of personal finance management to Plus users on web/iOS and Pro/Plus users on Android, offering secure account connections and financial insights. Dictation accuracy receives a major upgrade with a new speech-to-text model, improving performance across various languages, accents, and noisy settings. The retirement of GPT-4.5 for ChatGPT users means existing conversations seamlessly transition to GPT-5.5, ensuring continuity.

  • We’re rolling out a new speech-to-text model for dictation in ChatGPT across all plans. This is a behind-the-scenes update, so there are no changes to how you use dictation. The update improves transcription accuracy across languages and accents, including when multilingual speakers mix or switch between languages. Evaluations showed gains in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Urdu, Vietnamese, accented English, and long-form Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. Dictation is also more robust in noisy public spaces and workplace environments, with quiet or whispered speech, and when transcribing combinations of letters and numbers. In our ChatGPT dictation evaluations, word error rate—a standard measure of transcription accuracy—was at least 10% lower for top languages tested than with the previous production model.

  • As of June 26, 2026, GPT-4.5 is no longer available in ChatGPT, including for custom GPTs. Existing conversations that used GPT-4.5 can continue with GPT-5.5. This retirement was previously announced on May 28, 2026. It applies to ChatGPT only; there are no changes to the API.
